Show Notes

Guest: Samantha Knight | MA, LADC

Date: September 30, 2021

In today’s episode, I interview a former classmate of mine from Adler Graduate School Samantha Knight. Samantha has her Bachelor of Science degree in addiction counseling at Metropolitan State University as well as her Master of Arts Degree in Adlerian Counseling and psychotherapy with an emphasis on clinical mental health counseling. Samantha is also the owner and CEO of “Breakthrough Wellness Center.” The interview involved many different concepts of multicultural awareness and issues counselors have when working with minority populations. Throughout the episode, Samantha gives many great ideas and interventions on how the counseling profession can aid in helping the minority population with mental health and addiction issues as well as great ideas on how we as a society can influence and encourage more minorities to be a part of the behavioral health field as mental health and addiction therapist. Samantha also gets into systemic issues the behavioral health field has in helping the minority population. Samantha also explained what motivated her to start her own behavioral health facility and what steps she took to develop and create it. It was truly a pleasure having her on my show.
