In today’s BHI episode I had the wonderful pleasure of having Dr. Joseph R. Volpicelli on as a guest to discuss his passions and interest in the field of behavior and addictions. Dr. Joseph R. Volpicelli gets into discussions on the different types of opioid and alcohol interventions as well as empirical data supporting his work in the field of recovery.

Dr. Joseph R. Volpicelli, the executive director of Addiction Medicine. He has done many interviews in the past and really is an expert on the subject of drug and alcohol abuse.

A world-renowned scientist-clinician, Dr. Volpicelli’s research has led to many important discoveries in addiction treatment. His research led to the discovery of naltrexone to treat alcohol addiction, an FDA-approved medicine used worldwide to reduce alcohol craving and relapse. His research also led to the discovery of a psychosocial approach designed to improve treatment engagement and retention.
